Working together to feed families over half term

12 February 2021
Families vulnerable to food insecurity across Lambeth, Southwark and beyond will receive 86,050 nutritious breakfasts this week thanks to ongoing support from our funders and charity partners.

Thanks to Impact on Urban Health, 45,343 breakfasts have been distributed to schools across Lambeth and Southwark this week and will continue every fortnight while schools are closed.

Through ‘Food Power for Generation Covid’, a joint initiative with Food Power, another 8,485 breakfasts will help children stay nourished over the half term holidays and ensure they return to school with the energy to learn. Our friends at Abel & Cole have once again generously donated 1.6 tonnes of fresh fruit worth £6,000 to be added to the boxes.

The incredible outpouring of public donations after our Christmas holiday scheme has enabled us to extend the programme even further. We’ve distributed 32,135 breakfasts this week to families in Lambeth and Southwark and 750 to three schools in Wandsworth and Richmond, all funded by People Power. That means thousands more children will be able to enjoy a healthy breakfast over the holidays.
