Through our Honeybee Programme, children dive into the fascinating world of honeybees and discover why these incredible insects are essential to our food system.
What is the Honeybee Programme?
The Honeybee Programme, run in partnership with Whole Kids (a pillar of Whole Foods Market Foundation), is designed to raise awareness of the vital importance of honeybees in food production. Children get up close and personal with honeybees in a safe environment, transforming any fears into awe and wonder. The experience not only boosts their appreciation of biodiversity but also sparks a desire to become environmental stewards.
We offer four educational sessions:
An assembly introducing the programme and educating children about the importance of bees
A visit from London Beekeepers’ Association for a chance to view a honeybee colony in an observation hive
A bee-friendly planting session to help schools create a garden that is a haven for honeybees
A trip to an apiary to see an established bee colony at work
Beekeeper visit

We’ve had amazing feedback
"I used to be scared of bees, but now I know they do so much good for me. I have vegetables and fruits because of their hard work.” - Child
"Our young people learnt many interesting facts about bees. Some of them found it really challenging to go close to the hives but were pleased they had, and it was truly beneficial for them to come out of their comfort zone and try something new.” - Teacher
