World Soil Day
What better way to celebrate our precious soil then with our programme for secondary schools, Compost Matters.
Six schools across London have been delving into the fascinating world of compost with an aim to reduce the food waste in their school and build on their innovation and enterprise skills.
Students have enjoyed an educational visit to farms that specialise in composting followed by a workshop at school with a composting expert and soil scientist.
We are now challenging DT students to design and build a composter which can be used in the school grounds to support the school's food growing.
We're also delighted that Rebel Kitchen are supporting Compost Matters through their 1% For The Planet project.

At SFM, we're joining the 'Step up to the Plate' challenge to see how we can work with schools and families to halve food waste by 2030.
Students from 22 primary schools across London gathered in Borough Market last week for a session in seed sowing and market trader training as part of our Young Marketeers programme.
As we head into our busiest time of the year, we're looking for a bunch of enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver lots of cooking and food growing sessions in schools across London.
