SCHOOLS TO MARKET BRINGS THE 2,500TH CHILD TO A PYO FARM
This week, with the sun shining, children from 16 schools across London travelled to Crockford Bridge Farm in Surrey to pick fruit and veg.
We also had a special visit from BBC Surrey, so listen out for what some of the children had to say about their trip to the farm.
Now in the seventh year of the Schools to Market programme, in partnership with Whole Kids Foundation, 2,500 children have enjoyed a trip to a pick-your-own farm. For many of the children, this was their first trip to a farm and therefore was an incredible opportunity to learn more about the journey of produce from seed to supermarket.
Schools are now making chutneys and sauces out the fruit and veg that they picked, and on Wednesday 10th July they will be selling their creations at their local Whole Foods Market to raise money for their food education programs.
