Save Our Standards campaign
The Agriculture Bill is back in the House of Commons and urgent action is needed to protect our food standards.
The Government has so far refused to include provision for protecting food, environmental or animal standards in the BIll, or even take them off the negotiating table in future trade talks.
School Food Matters is concerned that without these protections, we risk seeing chlorine chicken, hormone beef, animals overtreated with antibiotics and pesticide-laced food on school plates.
We support the Save our Standards campaign, calling for:
Our food, farming, environmental and animal welfare standards to be written into law and for public health to be protected in trade deals
An improved Trade and Agriculture Commission to oversee standards protection
Our farmers to be rewarded for contributing to climate targets, nurturing the environment and nature, farming agro-ecologically, producing healthy food and given a fair deal for their produce
You can help by contacting your MP and asking them to stand up for nature friendly British food and farming, when this is voted on in Parliament.
