Opposition Day Debate on Free School Meals
An Opposition Day debate on free school meals has been scheduled.
We hope this debate will serve as an opportunity for the government to provide security and clarity for families, schools and local authorities by continuing to fund free school meals during the upcoming summer holidays.
We would also like to see the government introduce a simple, centrally funded mechanism, which would allow schools to flexibly identify the right local solution for each pupil, whether this is a supermarket voucher, cash payments, or food provided through catering teams.
The debate will take place at 2.45pm on Tuesday 16th June. You can read a briefing paper that has been prepared with our friends at the Food Foundation here.
