Holiday Food and Fun Club
This summer we partnered with Belazu Foundation to deliver our Holiday Food and Fun Club, aimed to tackle the issue of childhood hunger during the summer holidays.
This marks year two of our partnership with Belazu, to provide activities and a hot meal for 50 primary school students during the summer holidays. The Food and Fun Club took part in a school in Ealing over a 4 week period, where Belazu employees were given the opportunity to mix in with the kids and see first-hand how much the programme helps the children and their families.
As well as arts, crafts, sports and games, the students received weekly visits from our gardener, Cath, who taught them how to pot seeds and inspired the children to think about where food comes from. We also had sessions run by chefs from Adopt a School, and they introduced the children to lots of new foods and culinary skills.
The programme received lots of positive feedback from student, parents, staff and volunteers, and there is huge demand for the club to be run again next year. A big thanks goes to Belazu for their support and amazing volunteers, who all showed enthusiasm and positivity throughout the programme. And also thank you to the staff at the primary school we partnered with for all their cooperation.
