Childhood Obesity Plan Chapter 3?
Those with eagle eyes may have spotted chapter 3 of the Childhood Obesity Plan tucked away on page 28 of the Government's new green paper on health.
Advancing our health: prevention in the 2020s is out for consultation and we're pleased to see the inclusion of the ban on sale of energy drinks to under 16s. But we're struggling to understand why chapter 3 of the Childhood Obesity Plan (now apparently downgraded to the Childhood Obesity strategy) has been absorbed into this paper which covers issues ranging from smoking to mental health and many things inbetween. At SFM we firmly believe that childhood obesity needs government's full attention, particularly when actions from chapters one and two have yet to be delivered.
We'll be taking a closer look at the paper and responding in the autumn.
