Tom Aikens is an English Michelin star winning chef. He owns Tom's Kitchen and a number of highly acclaimed restaurants across London, Birmingham, Hong Kong, Dubai and Istanbul. He got in touch with School Food Matters in 2009, keen to share his passion for cooking fresh food with local school children. Together we came up with the idea for Cooking Ideas; cooking sessions for children to inspire the next generation of chefs. Since then Tom has cooked with 100s of school children donating his time, the ingredients and the equipment needed to make the session hands-on, engaging and lots of fun. He's also raised over £5,000 for SFM through his epic marathon-running and proceeds from cooking lessons for children at Tom's Kitchen.
Chris started out as an apprentice gardener with Brighton Parks in 1984 and by 2002, he'd entered the world of television with his own BBC series called The Plantsman. He became a friend of School Food Matters in 2007 when our founder spotted him on Blue Peter. Since then he's delivered training in growing veg to 1000s of children at 100s of schools and continues to wave the School Food Matters flag as he travels the country inspiring the next generation to embrace horticulture.
